Palacio Cabanellas

This iconic building was originally conceived as a hotel.

The project was designed by Architect Francisco Roca i Simó around 1914, and its construction was completed in 1930. It is one of the best examples of Catalan Art-Nouveau Modernism in our city. The construction was in charge of Luis B. Laporte Company, while the ornamentation of the facade was made by Sculptor Diego Masana.
The palace includes a basement, commercial premises on the first floor, and five upper floors for housing. The top part is distinguished by a domed viewpoint covered by small pieces of colored glass and drawings of butterflies inside. This feature gives it great luminosity and a unique sense of lightness.
