General Confederation of Labor

The local delegation of the General Confederation of Labor —the historic union center in Argentina— was the protagonist of important acts of protest throughout the 20th century.

There’s no doubt those occurred in 1969 occupy a privileged place in social memory: the Confederation —under a new and combative syndicalism— knew how to give course to the general unrest over the dictatorship of Juan Carlos Onganía (1966-1970) and to promote an unprecedented articulation with the students, which History would later consider decisive.

Those days of struggle which took place on May and September 1969 were known as the Rosariazos.
