This institution was founded in 1894 under the name of "Escuela Elemental del Pueblo Alberdi", and in 1929, it moved to its current building, on the corner of Agrelo St. and Larrechea St.
Designed in 1934 by architect Jaime Lopez, it follows a neo-colonial style, characteristic of the time.
The institution achieved international projection thanks to the pedagogical work of Olga and Leticia Cossettini, who between 1935 and 1950 developed an innovative educational approach known as the "Escuela Serena" (Serene School). This humanistic, creative, and deeply transformative experience was a milestone in the history of Argentine education.
