For decades, Rosario Norte Station, located in the iconic Pichincha neighborhood, was the city's most important station.
The original building, owned by the railway company Ferrocarril Central Argentino, was inaugurated in 1885. It was the main passenger reception station; most of the passengers were immigrants who came to work in jobs related to the port and the railway. Currently, the train service is still active and connects Rosario with Tucuman and Buenos Aires.
At the beginning of the 20th century, a neighborhood arose in the area next to the station where tenements and boarding houses inhabited by immigrants escalated. The proximity to the port also led to the proliferation of brothels, bars, and inns.
