On May 17, 1969, the student movement met in assembly at the university canteen to discuss the measures that would be taken regarding the suspension of classes and the murder of a student, committed days before in Corrientes, during the repression of a protest.
The police repressed the students again and chased a group along Córdoba Promenade until they cornered them inside Melipal Gallery. Right then, officer Lescano shot 22-year-old student Adolfo Bello dead.
Thus began the days of struggle that would later be known as the Rosariazos, and which would mobilize every neighborhood against the de facto government of Juan Carlos Onganía (1966-1970).
