The parish was a founding part of the neighborhood, since between 1891 and 1894, the Franciscan order was installed here, and the so-called Hospice or Small Convent was built.
Currently, the brick and lime walls of that first chapel can be seen on the front of the parish.
In the entrance courtyard, there is a unique work: the Immaculate Conception Monument, completed in March 1906. The image of the Virgin, which stands on a 16-feet pyramid built with stones brought from Cosquin (Cordoba), was known among neighbors as the "Virgin of the Stone" or the "Black Virgin."
On Mendoza St., on the lot adjacent to the parish, stands the San Francisco Solano School, which offers all three levels of education and is one of the busiest educational centers in the area.
