In 1922, during a visit of Alberto Santos Dumont, Brazilian pioneer of aeronautics, inventor, and engineer, and to commemorate the Independence of Brazil, Mayor Rouillon inaugurated the Santos Dumont Square in tribute to this distinguished visitor.
This green space is highlighted by a series of exposed brick arches that frame the riverbank and offer unique views of the river and islands, with the city of Rosario as a backdrop. In the center, there is a fountain that adorns the cobblestone floor, creating an ideal environment to rest and enjoy the landscape.
Behind the arches, there is a striking staircase that descends to the edge of the riverbank. The setting is completed with a lush grove and several mansions built in the 1940s. One of them is Villa Margherita, the former summer residence and property of Don Roque Cassini, an important merchant in the city.
