The museum integrates the Municipal Astronomic Complex. Located in the 2nd floor of the Planetarium "Luis Cándido Carballo", it was first opened in September 24th, 1987.
The museum includes areas related to maths, physics, science & technology, astronomy and astronautics, geology, chemistry and biology. Visitors can use equipment, instruments and devices to carry out experiments and learn about the Laws of Nature.
There also are two special areas: ciencianiño (kidscience) and videociencia (videoscience), where kids can use (with the aid of specialized tutors) educational equipment to learn about magnetism, electricity, pressure, mechanics, light and sound.
Visitors can experiment with optic phenomena, laser light, static energy, propagation of electromagnetic radiations, an also make observations in telescopes and microscopes.
The museum also hosts different courses and conferences.
