The mansions on Nuestra Señora del Rosario Ave. reflect the elitist character of the first inhabitants of this area. The diverse architectural styles of these century-old mansions can still be seen; they had running water and electricity when most of the city did not have those services yet.
Among them were Villa Meiners (135b Del Rosario Ave.) and Villa Maria Eloisa (136b Del Rosario Ave.), both built in the 1870s.
The first one is an authentic small palace crowned by a magnific French-style dome. Its original parcelling occupied the entire block and included a stud and a large park with fountains. It has 14 rooms and 9 bathrooms connected by a great central staircase. Its interior decoration is highlighted by the warmth of the wood.
Dr. Florentino Loza ordered the construction of Villa Maria Eloisa. It has eight rooms, and its facade with balconies is asymmetrical with few ornaments
