Rosario-Victoria Bridge

The modern design of the Bridge can be appreciated clearly from the riverside area in the northern part of the city. The 60-kilometer structure (37.2 miles) crosses the Paraná River and links the city of Rosario to that of Victoria, in the Province of Entre Ríos.

This striking bridge, inaugurated in 2003, joins the Provinces of Santa Fe and Enter Ríos. The main cable-stayed bridge is 608 meters long (about 1995 feet), with a maximum height of 56 meters (around 184 feet) and a clearance of 300 meters (about 984 feet) for navigation purposes. The structure includes eight more bridges, which amount to 8.2 kilometers (slightly more than 5 miles), and a series of raised roads in the islands of the Paraná River delta that make up a total of 47 kilometers (around 29 miles).

It is the shortest route between the Brazilian port city of Santos, next to Sao Paulo, and the Chilean port city of Valparaíso. For this reason, it was nicknamed “MERCOSUR Bridge,” in view of it being a strategic point in the South American Bi-Oceanic Corridor (pathway). Construction plans for this bridge, much desired by the cities of Rosario and Victoria, began over a century ago. At present, it is a means of joining different productive areas in Argentina, favoring inter-regional commerce and facilitating land and water transportation to and from the port areas around Rosario and other main ports in the Paraná River.
