El Cairo is the only movie theater in Rosario that, since it was inaugurated in 1913, has been exclusively dedicated to film exhibition. Its building is part of the architectural heritage of the city and its tradition of quality cinema is part of the cultural heritage of the province and country. The cinema was in full activity from 1945─when it adopted its current name─to 2007, when it closed its doors; but after being restored and renewed, it was reopened in December 2008 under a new concept: nowadays, El Cairo is the first public cinema of the province of Santa Fe.
